ParetoLogic UUS.DLL

After installing and uninstalling ParetoLogic Data Recovery, you may get a popup warning about once a day, stating:

Error loading C:\Program Files\Common Files\
ParetoLogic\UUS2\UUS.DLL

The specified module could not be found.

The error is due to a scheduled task; it is not a virus, or malware, or spyware.

To get rid of the problem:

  • open the Scheduled Tasks folder in the Control Panel and
  • delete the “ParetoLogic Registration” entry.

This computer gets the error message you note above: not found. Am I correct in thinking that this computer does not require and can work perfectly well without the ParetoLogic\UUS2\UUS.Dll file? That all I need to do is remove the registration entry from the scheduled tasks??
    Thank you so much.

If you have any ParetoLogic products installed, try reinstalling them. If the error does not go away after you reinstall, then remove the Scheduled Tasks entry. If the error goes away after you reinstall, then you had a corrupted install, problem solved.

If you don’t have any ParetoLogic products installed, then simply remove the Scheduled Tasks entry, as this means that a previously installed ParetoLogic product forgot to remove the entry when you uninstalled it.

MalcolmF: it’s not entirely up to them whether a file can be recovered. Sometimes deleted files get overwritten with newer files’ data. No program will be able to recover such files.

Grace: The DLL is obviously not required, since it’s a UUS DLL and Windows doesn’t depend on UUS software. I would try reinstalling and uninstalling the UUS product. For more specific help, you’d have to tell me more about the error.

Carolyn, you may remove entries from your context menu as indicated here: [ http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article02-026 ]. If this does not help, there are plenty of resources. Just google “remove context menu entries”.

THANK YOU! Do you realize how wonderful it is for a person who is not a “tech-Know” to finally type in info about a error message…and not get a bazillion websites for “repair programs” that cost more than I can pay…but click on your website addy and get a simple answer…AND IT WORKED! YOU ARE AWESOME AND GOD BLESS YOU! Thanks again…
