Coca-Cola’s marketing endeavors include sociolinguistic studies. They so learned that their brand name is offensive in at least one language, and had it changed for the purposes of marketing their product in that country. Apparently the flavor of the beverage itself is tuned to appeal to the target population.
Sometimes I’m amazed how frustrated and easily offended people can get. I wonder if those CAPTCHA tools that work with words don’t risk offending the visitors. Just the other day I saw one and the word in the image was “loss”. Who the fuck wants to lose? I don’t wanna type loss! What if some stupid fanatic religious prick sees “devil” and gets offended? You’d have a major lawsuit on your hands, that’s what would happen!

My mother, was kind of offended or actually scared a bit when she created account at yahoo and she had to type something like ‘kill’… I don’t remember exactly what, but it was something involving violence anyway.

It should say “you don’t like it? Click here to get another one!”
Yeah, man… I read you. All I’m saying is that if someone’s gonna look to be inconvenienced (and possibly ask for money over it) like it seems they often do here in the US, then seeing the word there will suffice.
By the way, there may be some truth to that remark about the “Refresh” button… I bet a good percentage of first time users won’t understand what it’s about.
