I was looking around WordPress.com, trying to maybe get convinced not to switch to a lighter, file-based publishing platform, one that respects pages a bit more, when I noticed a link to BrowseHappy.com in the footer. I open it and look around–it makes a case for compliant browsers, urging people not to use Internet Explorer. So I go to the Why page, some sort of testimonial page, and the first testimonial I read is.
Ms. Sandlin is so devoted to [Firefox] that she has taped a note to her monitor warning guests not to click on the desktop shortcut to Internet Explorer.
Do not touch the blue ‘E!’the note says.
Hahaha! Whatever possessed you to do this, Ms. Sandlin? When there’s software on your computer that you don’t like, please, uninstall it, or at least delete the icon that it has placed on your desktop! You don’t leave a bomb where you’ve found it, let alone put a sign saying “hey, there’s a bomb here, please be careful!”. It seems that’s exactly what you did here.
So I guess I’ve had enough browsing around for one day. Thanks, Ms. Sandlin!
Later edit: Maybe Ms. Sandlin was unable to delete the icon due to security restrictions. She could probably have moved it outside the visible area of the desktop, but that’s beyond her capabilities.
